Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees provides strategic oversight and governance to ensure FADI fulfills its mission with integrity and accountability.

Dr Abdurrahman Tukur

Director/Farm Manager

Dr Abdurrahman Tukur was born on April 12, 1962 in Nassarawo Jereng, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Nigeria. He attended Nassarawo Jereng Primary School from 1968-1974, General Murtala Mohammed College Yola from 1974-1979, the College of Preliminary Studies Yola from 1979-1980, and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria from 1981 to 1986 where he obtained a Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). In 2002 he obtained a post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and commenced his career in the civil service as a Veterinary Officer after his mandatory National Youth Service at University of Nigeria Nsukka. His active service and dedication to duty gradually rose him to the rank of Chief Veterinary Officer responsible for the development and implementation of veterinary services delivery in several local government areas of Adamawa and Taraba States. He was latter appointed as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture development in Adamawa State of Nigeria.


His work experience with the public service ranged from the diagnosis, control and treatment of animal diseases for both rural and pastoralist management systems and modern ranches and dairy farms. He was involved in the management of regional and zonal offices responsible for state government's veterinary service delivery and as a director responsible for livestock movement and marketing in Adamawa State.


In addition to his statutory responsibility of administration and management of the ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture Development he successfully carried out bilateral and multilateral agreements in cooperation with a number of organizations including but not limited to Food and Agricultural organization(FAO), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), The EU-Funded COMITAS (Contribution to the Mitigation of Conflict over Natural Resources between Farmer and Herder Communities), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and the World Bank assisted programmes on Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) among others.


He was one of the leading team members that developed and managed the interventions in the Agricultural Sector under the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund PTF) an intervention fund established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, in which he contributed in the development of intervention for the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sector of Nigeria. In particular he was actively involved in the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive programme for the integration and development of the pastoralist livestock development sector. He is married with a Wife and Five children.

Usman Shehu Isa

Chairman Board of Trustees

Usman Shehu Isa is a mechanical engineer by profession with over 25 years of professional engagement which includes over 16 years as a staff of the National Engineering and Technical Company a subsidiary of the NNPC.

He is passionate about environmental issues and its intersection with the Islamic faith and has made presentations to African Faith leaders at the first meeting of African Interfaith leaders on Religion and the Environment held in Abuja in 2010 and at the Bayero University Kano in the past.

He is keen interest on issues concerning Science and Islam and the development of more holistic and more qualitative ways of scientific inquiry as championed by The Nature Institute and Schumacher College.

He is the Nigeria representative of the Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES) based in Birmingham UK and the Chairman of the FADI BOT.

Dr Abubakar Barkindo

Secretary BOT

Dr Abubakar Alkali Barkindo is a Doctorate holder in Veterinary Medicine, a career academic with the Modibbo Adamawa University of Science and Technology and the current programme supervisor in its department of Animal Health and Production. He has on many occasions been a forefront community leader in veteran livestock management and dispute resolution involving farmers, traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Adamawa state, Nigeria.

His veterinarian practices focuses on the the diagnoses and treatment of diseases in animals which lead him to pioneer the establishment of animal production centers and poultry production in non-rural areas that required herd health intervention programs, additionally, he has led many vaccination campaigns for farmers in Adamawa against most devastating poultry diseases especially the Newcastle and Gumboro diseases.

Dr Barkindo ensures that poultry and crop farmers in Adamawa are abreast of the latest biosecurity security issues and how to control vectors that cause crop damage at the farm level.

Dr Barkindo was a livestock consultant with Green Horzion Nigeria where he successfully trained over 160 Traditional Rulers and Ward Heads in the Girei district of Adamawa state.

He is happily married with children and loves gardening, and volunteering.

Dr Zainab Hammanga

Dr Zainab Hammanga worked as a public servant for 35 years in the Nigeria Civil Service.

She is a professional veterinary doctor and first practiced veterinary medicine in the Gongola state civil service. Her professional experience merited her to be appointed a member of the National Livestock Development Committee and the Presidential Initiative Committee on the commercialization of Nigerian Herbal Medicine and on the Winrock International (African Women Leaders in Agriculture and the Environment) scholarship selection board.

She was appointed commissioner of Health and Social Affairs for Adamawa State and Gongola state and Councilor for Natural Resources in Gongola state 1990 -1992.

She retired from Raw Materials Research and Development Council 2019 and currently a stakeholder in the Precious Pearls Academy Kwali and the Livestock Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society

Professor Bashir Aliyu

Member BOT

Prof Bashir Aliyu, is a seasoned Professor of Engineering,with highly proficient management skills and 33 years of experience in teaching, research and management in the university within and outside of the ivory tower.

He holds a B.Eng in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology, M.Eng in processing engineering with specialty in storage and processing of agricultural products and a PhD in Mechanical Systems Engineering with specialty in Biodiesel Production and Analysis obtained in the years 1991, 1997 and 2009 respectively, from University of Maiduguri, University of Ibadan and University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He obtained a diploma in Computer Techniques and Applications and has other certifications in IT based trainings.

For his master’s thesis, he investigated and profered solutions to the drudgery and manual labour resulting from manual processing of soya milk in communities around Ibadan, by designing and constructing a soya milk press. The machine is used in many medium scale industries in Nigeria today. Prof Bashir in his PhD work, investigated alternative sources of production of renewable energy, and travelled to several countries of Africa, particularly to Kenya to work on ‘Croton megalocarpus’ a crop found to have lots of prospects as source for biodiesel, with sponsorship from the most prestigious British Council Commonwealth scholarship.

He attended many international conferences in Agricultural Technology and he served as resource person to several environmental related issues, including the World bank as a consultant on machine-manual labour in a cane plantation, studying the effect of the pollution on the plantations. He also participated in the British Council administered international scholars and fellows participating in the Environment Agency’s (EA’s) annual international enviromental conference, and the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre London and has been a member of environment@CSCUK since 2005 and an active participant in the activities of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) where he served as its Regional Chairman.

He supervised several students at Cetificate, Diploma, NCE, Undergraduate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctorate levels in different areas such as in mechanization, biogas production, agriculture, engineering, computing and management. He served virtually in all the capacities at the MAUTECH University as Coordinator of many centers including Reseach & Development. He thrice headed the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO), Head of Department, SEET Research and Development Coordinator, Pioneer Head of Entrepreneurship Development, Director Academic Publishing Centre, Deputy Dean of School Engineering, Dean School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), including acting as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics and Vice Chancellor severally when the Vice Chancellor is away on other assignments. His current assignment is as a director, centre of excellence on health, safety and environmental studies. A centre co-hosted by the university and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), a parastatal of the Nigerian Petroleum Ministry. Prof Bashir is a fellow, member of many academic and non academic bodies including Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (FNIAE); a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a Member of the American Society of Agricultural/Biological Engineers and Institute of Management Consultants. He served as an assessor for both Professorial and Associate Professorial appointments, as external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in many Universities. Prof Bashir published in many peer reviewed Journals and conferences worldwide. He has also published chapters of Books in ‘Cutting Edge Research in Agricultural Sciences’ Vol 13, ISBN 978-93-91473-86-0.

His current area of research includes how to reduce wastages of agricultural products by processing them, as well as getting new sources of energy through agric value chains. As the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of central administration, he was instrumental in signing and handling several university linkages and collaborations in Europe, America, Asia and many African countries. He is currently a member of the University advancement centre.

He has served outside the university in various capacities for Nigeria as a chairman and as a member of many committees and panels at the federal level and to government agencies.

Hajja Hauwa Kulu Ali Balla

Member BOT

Hajja Hauwa Kulu Yerima Balla is a keen livestock manager and farmer. She has been involved in the local economy of Adamawa for over 30 years and learnt animal husbandry and farming from the indigenous population of land

She obtained a Training Certificate in Animal Husbandry at Yola Sponsored by the European Agricultural Commission.

She currently grows rice, maize and tends to livestock in the Adamawa region.

She has a wealth of indigenous knowledge on herbal remedies and horticulture.

Professor Zulfikar Aliyu

Member BOT - Head of Media

Dr. Zulfikar Ali Adamu is an Associate Professor of Strategic IT in Construction and Associate Head of Division at London South Bank University (LSBU). With a PhD in Civil and Building Engineering from Loughborough University, his career is defined by leadership in digital construction, specifically Building Information Modelling (BIM), Data Science, and Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR).

At LSBU, he leads the implementation of advanced technologies such as Digital Twinning, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Artificial Intelligence in construction. He previously served as the "BIM Champion" at Loughborough University, where he successfully embedded Level 2 BIM into over 30 modules across seven degree programmes. Dr. Adamu has secured significant funding for innovative projects, including a £138,484 UKRI grant for the AIRBODS project to reduce airborne infection risks in buildings. He also led the development of a VR game for construction hazard perception sponsored by the Building Research Establishment (BRE). Professor Zulfikar served for three consecutive years (2018–2020) as an international judge for Autodesk’s global AEC Excellence Awards. His technical expertise has earned him several honors, including the Royal Charter International Research Award and multiple first-place finishes in high-profile AEC Hackathons.

He is a Unity3D Certified Developer and a BIM Accredited Professional. His multidisciplinary skills span programming (C#, Python), cloud-based collaboration, and advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Hajja Halima Mustapha

Member BOT

Halima Salihu Mustafa is an experienced professional with a background in botany and education, currently residing in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

Her professional objective is to achieve excellence and acquire new skills within a vision-oriented organization that supports career growth. Since 2010, she has served as a Facilities Officer at Triton International School in Kuchikau, Nasarawa State. She previously worked as an Agricultural Science and Biology teacher at Government Girls Secondary School in Katsina State starting in 2006. Her earlier experience includes National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) placement at the Federal Ministry of Environment (2004) and industrial training at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture (1999), both in Abuja.

Her personal interests and hobbies include farming, crafts, and life long learning, she currently manages a farm in Nassarwa state near Nigeria's capital.
